Julie Sutter-Blair August Guest Artist at VIVA Gallery

Julie Sutter-Blair is a printmaker who specializes in etching as part of her printmaking process. The natural world and daily life bring inspiration to her work. All her life she has enjoyed gardening, the changing seasons, and art. Printmaking, and especially etching, provides her opportunity for detail, texture, and surprise.

The process of etching uses a wide variety of techniques to produce an image below the surface of a metal plate. After the metal plate is finished, it is inked and prints are made one by one on an etching press. They are dried under weight before color is applied to the dried prints.
