Watershed Practices that can Improve the Health of Local Watersheds
August 8 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
FreeConservation efforts are typically focused on habitat or plants and wildlife. Watershed-scale conservation promotes water quality and mitigation of impacts associated with runoff, in addition to habitat, plant, and wildlife improvements, throughout a watershed. Because everything within a watershed is connected, implementation of land-management practices at the headwaters or upper portions of a watershed can significantly improve conditions downstream. Ben Johnston, Valley Stewardship Network’s Habitat Specialist, will define and give examples of how land-management practices can affect different levels of watersheds and describe practices that can improve conditions throughout watersheds.
The presentation will take place in the McIntosh Memorial Library lobby at 205 S. Rock Ave., Viroqua, WI, at 5:30 pm on Thursday, August 8th.
This program is presented in partnership with the McIntosh Memorial Library. For additional program details, visit www.mcintoshmemoriallibrary.org.
